I’m Christie! A Canadian who calls Sydney, Australia (the most beautiful place on earth) home.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been a mover! I was obsessed with learning how to do headstands when I was around six … I liked to practice them every night after dinner (much to my mom’s dismay)! So much so that there became a rule I had to use a cupboard to kick into because my feet were marking the walls!

From there, I discovered track and field. I was a 3000m runner and… wait for it, a shot putter! A unique combination of disciplines, but such has been the story for the majority of my life.

Then came Crew. Rowing was my obsession in high school. I felt like I was destined for varsity crew at an American university, however, an overuse injury left me completely sidelined in my senior year. Like many heartbreaking moments in my life, I look back now and think - thank goodness that did not work out!

I then went to university and just had fun! I took Kinesiology because I loved exercise science. There I started a workout class just for my friends that we jokingly called “BOD Squad”. Even before Taylor had a squad. That squad grew into a blog, “The Beauty and the BOD”, that I wrote every day for two years while traveling around southeast Asia and Europe. Read some of the archives here All the while knowing I would come back to Toronto and start the BOD Squad as an outdoor boot camp business. I loved it! And the BOD Squad was pretty popular if I do say so myself. I was asked to become a Lululemon ambassador and worked with them for over six years! I knew the BOD squad needed a home base, I found this underground bank vault that had been neglected for a number of years in midtown, we renovated it and then BOD studio was born.

After eight years of BOD, it was time to spread my wings! My friend Duncan had just moved to Australia … I thought he was crazy to do so! Until I came to visit him and on the second day of arriving in Sydney I had already applied for a “working holiday” visa. I fell in LOVE instantly with SYD!

But then I had to figure out how I could stay down under … forever!? Naturally, law school sounded like a good idea! Shockingly, what was initially just a way for me to stay in my favourite place, I truly fell in love with learning the law. Why?! I love the way that it stretches my head and makes me consider all perspectives. I taught full-time teaching Pilates while at Sydney University, it was pretty fullon.com but I survived and made some beautiful friends from it!

What now?! I’m back to teaching yoga at BodyMindLife on Sundays and it’s been wonderful!

I think I’ll start my own law firm one day. Or become a Chief Justice. And the dream to become a professional surfer lives on too!

Thank you for checking out my website. And I hope to see you in a yoga studio, wave or courtroom soon!
